Depending of the demyelinated areas, sufferers may experience difficulties in talking. For example, a sufferer’s speech may be produced slurred, slow and loss of fluency. Although affected speech is usually understandable, it may become even worse when the tongue, lips, cheeks or teeth are affected by demyelination. The sufferer’s mouth becomes uncoordinated and unable to produce normal speech. Demyelination in the cerebellum or the temporal lobe (controls speech) is the main reason why sufferer’s face speech problems.
