Balance, tremor coordination are symptoms which affects the body’s ability of mobility. It is when the body faces extremities during movement and when parts of the body experiences uncontrollable shaking. Tremor is the result of several involuntary contractions of the muscle and demyelination in the cerebellum of the brain which is responsible or balance and coordination. 75% of multiple sclerosis sufferers experience this symptom and there are also two different types of tremor. They are either intention tremor or postural tremor.
Intention tremor is the most common type of tremor and generally occurs when the body attempts to reach for an object and the hand, arm or body begins to shake. The closer the body is to an object, the more the body will shake.
Postural tremor only occurs when the body is either sitting or standing. It the term used to describe the shaking experienced when the muscles are trying to control parts of the body against gravity. For example, lifting up an arm or leg.
Loss of balance is another symptom of multiple sclerosis and it is important in order to perform a series of coordinated movements. Although the cerebellum in the brain is responsible for balance, other organs such as the eyes, eyes, legs or arms also assist in sensing balance. As a result, any demyelination to these areas may cause the body’s balance to worsen.
With the loss of balance, the sufferer is also the victim of dizziness which is caused by interfered brainstem structures responsible for balance. People who have multiple sclerosis also feel a spinning sensation and light-headed.
