Statistics have shown that women may receive multiple sclerosis more than double the chances of men receiving it and occasionally, depending on location, almost triple the amount of likeliness. Men usually develop multiple sclerosis at an older age whilst women develop it at a younger age. The general reason for this is based on the different hormones produced by each gender. Although men are least likely to inherit multiple sclerosis, studies have shown that whenever men do receive multiple sclerosis, they often take on board the most severe type of multiple sclerosis which is Chronic Progressive MS. Women also usually acquire multiple sclerosis at an earlier age compared to men.
