Glatiramer Acetate is a drug marketed by the name of Copaxone which is mostly used to treat relapsing-remitting MS. This treatment assists the body against multiple sclerosis because Glatiramer Acetate imitates the proteins made up of the myelin sheath. Ultimately, this treatment prevents myelin from demyelination and therefore, preserves the immune system for longer. Unlike interferon which improves the whole body’s immune system, Glatiramer Acetate focuses on improving aspects of the immune system which are suspected to cause multiple sclerosis and its symptoms. The process in which this drug is taken is through a needle everyday.
