Relapsing-remitting MS is suffered by a majority of people with multiple sclerosis and can be distinguished from the other types of multiple sclerosis depending on how severe the symptoms are how clearly defined each attack is. More women than men suffer this type of MS. The term ‘relapsing-remitting’ means that symptoms appear then follows with short recovery periods constantly throughout the course of suffering multiple sclerosis. Also, new or old symptoms usually reoccur within 24 hours. Relapsing-remitting MS may be triggered due to infections, change in body temperature, pregnancy or vaccinations. The symptoms of this type of multiple sclerosis at first appear to be manageable however, after 10 – 15 years of having this type of disease, it soon further develops into a much worse type of multiple sclerosis which is secondary-progressive MS.
